Week of Walks
A successful Week of Walks took place this year during the week beginning the 21st September. Members enjoyed walks at Aberdeen City, Dunecht, Dufftown and Drummuir, and Dinnet. The weather was on the whole kind although there were some showers on some of the days. Thanks must go to the leaders who came from local groups in the area.
Cambus o’ May Dinnet
This was a 7 mile flat walk on the old Deeside road, railway track and fishermen’s path. The weather was excellent and we had a delightful lunch by the river Dee. Highlights of the walk were the discovery of a Slow Worm, sighting a Heron and a Buzzard.
The Drummuir walk
The Drummuir walk started with a light rain falling but the weather gradually improved through the walk. There were walkers from Garioch Wednesday, Westhill Wanderers, Kemney Kestrals Millbank, Turriff & Upper Ythan, Mintlaw 50+, Dyce & Stoneywood and Forres 50+. The 5.5 mile walk was mostly flat with 2 short climbs. We stopped for lunch at Loch Park.
